alexdegenhardt: (Dread one day at a time)
Something's off with my body. I don't know what exactly, but my digestion is in an uproar, I feel woozy sometimes, my skin feels itchy and more breakouts. I don't know if it's hormones or the onset of my spring allergies. Either way it sucks and it can stop anytime now, please.

Today is the first official day of my unemployment. Apparently it's not quite as easy as I thought getting a temp job. I've spent the afternoon completing step 2 in the uphill battle on getting umemployment benefits somewhere down the line. Only about a million left to go. Step 3 is I have a meeting on Thursday with my unemployment advisor. He'll probably scold me for only applying for 8 jobs.

My application file is at 4 different job placement agencies. I have a job interview on Thursday. We'll see how it goes. I want to get back to work, but I'm also spoiled, because that job would entail a 40 min. commute to work and my commute used to be 10 min. If it happens, it happens.

I get along really well with my new roommate so far. I might even like her more than my old one and I liked my old one plenty.

Sometime in the next two weeks or so, I'll find out whether or not I got into the school I've applied to. Man, I hope so.

Also in the next two weeks: I'll be turning 30. Whooooo. I don't quite know what I'll do to celebrate it. I'm thinking something lowkey. I'll have to ask my friends if/when they're free.

I haven't updated in a while. I blame it on work being really stressful and my roommate moving out, which meant that there were people coming by to see the room all the time. And really, the last thing I wanna do after a stressful day at work is talk to strangers, trying to get an idea whether or not I can imagine us being roommates.

Things that happened in the meantime:

-My grandmother moved from her second floor apartment to a ground floor apartment in the same building. Although moving took the whole day, I had fun. My family is quite amusing and together we made fun of the gazillion things my grandmother owns whenever she wasn't in the room. I think I will never forget the look of horror on my aunt's face after unpacking something particularly ugly.

-My roommate moved out about 4 weeks ago. I still haven't found a new one. To be honest, I haven't been looking for the past two weeks, because I went on vacation. I should put a new ad up. Well, maybe tomorrow. Living alone has been a nice change. I forgot how much I turn into a slob without a roommate. I'm in no hurry to find a roommate, but I want to eventually get one again. I don't need the extra space and I like to be able to talk with someone when I get home.

-My vacation was nice. The weather was great, real summery, almost to hot to sightsee and we had a good group, with one notable exception. Why is it always guys that can't read social clues? The guy was generally immature and incapable of retaining any information, a xenophobe and homophobe and spoke only German. I wondered why he even left Germany when he doesn't like new things and back home, everything is better? Part of me felt sorry for him, but part of me was annoyed. He provided countless hours of entertainment for the group though and unified it. All in all, it was relaxing.

-Work is trying to kill me. The Swiss army in their infinite wisdom thought they needed my coworker not just 3 weeks but 4, which means I will do two jobs for the next 4 weeks. Thanks so much, morons!
alexdegenhardt: (Being an adult sucks)
In general, I like my roommate. It's just that there are phases where she gets on my nerves. Like right now, she's coughing up a lung in our kitchen and it's so annoying. And it's not like she can do anything about it, I mean she's sick. Except she's been sick almost constantly for the past few months and she's turning me into a germaphobe. It's a miracle I haven't gotten sick with her distributing germs all over our apartment.

Or like yesterday, she signed for stuff for our downstairs neighbors and it's still lying on our kitchen table. I wonder when she will get around to giving them their packages. Maybe by next weekend, they'll actually get the stuff they ordered...

Apropos kitchen table, her boyfriend visited last weekend and it's still 50% covered in groceries that she hasn't put away. They used my wine glasses, and one of the glasses cracked, which would be no biggie, because these things happen, but she didn't even think it merited a mention. How hard is it to say "Oh BTW, one of the wineglasses cracked when we washed it yesterday"? Sometimes it's hard to believe that she's two years older than me, because she seems so immature.
