Office politics = strong semblance to a daily soap

Today, we had another one of those dreaded, overlong teammeetings. Ariane, my boss, is a wreck. She was close to tears during the meeting. In the meeting, we discovered that Ariane isn't the only one who is lying. O., Ariane's boss, has had talks with those 3 coworkers that gave notice and then turned around and twisted everything they said, when telling Ariane those things. This once I actually believe her. And despite the fact that she lied to our faces, I'm still more on her side than on O.'s. I distrust him even more than her. He's nice enough to talk to about non-work things, but whenever else he's giving you this feeling that he's way more important than you. I'm beginning to think that he's really trying to get rid of Ariane. Ariane was almost crying again when she was talking to Shirley and Shirley told her that she wasn't the reason that she's leaving. I hope for Ariane's sake that she's looking for a new job just like me. She seems very unhappy, lost her appetite, which is why she's so thin and she is certainly not being appreciated now. Despite all her flaws, she's still a competent employee, who took on a lot of responsabilities (maybe too much).
