Work rant

I like my boss, but she has no concept of time. She's always getting things done at the last second. Today, I got ambushed by her again, just as I was about to leave work to go home. Having the computer shutdown and the handbag in your hand is a pretty clear indication in my book that someone's about to leave. Not so for my boss. For her it's the perfect time to ask for a progress report on the fucking list that I've been working on for weeks. It's supposed to be finished by Friday next week and I'm not quite sure whether that's possible. Apparently boss's boss wanted to have the list finished 3 months ago and now my boss is getting antsy. She told me today to work full speed on the list and make overtime to make sure that it's finished on time. Brilliant, isn't it? And so nice that I get to suffer the consequences of her bad time management.

See, I would work full speed on the list, but today I had to spend 2 hours to order my new office furniture. The whole company gets new furniture, but of course the whole thing is a complete mess. We didn't get see any of the furniture that we could order, let alone chairs. So there was a big discussion and a whole lot of measuring necessary to settle who would order what. Since the merger, the company is just a mess in terms of organisation.

My boss is also acting a bit weird the last couple of weeks. She's strangely withdrawn, hardly ever says hello in the morning and when you ask her a question, you get weird answers. Shirley and I think that either she has problems at home or she's looking for a new job. There have been some weird unexplained absences lately. She's lost quite a bit of weight and we're worried, 'cause she was skinny to begin with.
