The Launch Party on Friday was a letdown. Shirley has been sick since Friday and I miss her terribly. And I definitively felt her absence at the party. It was a huge event and I felt lost in the masses. I got to spend some time with one of my new coworkers at an event just before the Launch Party and I like her. The good first impression I got from her was confirmed. She's competent, fun and like me, not ambitious and likes her freetime.
On Monday, we got a "Starter Kit" for the new company, containing a baseball cap, pens and the mission statement with "our" goals. I don't know what they expect us to do with that? Hang it up over our bed? Learn it backwards and forwards? It just shows that the management has no idea to communicate with people. Yes, they say stuff and everything, but they don't have a clue how to get through to people, that it's not enough to define lofty goals for everyone, but that you have to lead by example. Morons!
