alexdegenhardt: (Tea)
I've been sick the past 4 days. It's just a cold with some light flu symptoms. I'm certainly not sad to have missed two days of work. But the constant tea drinking is starting to get boring. And I love tea. And I don't know how to lie anymore, it kinda hurts everyway I do. But I don't want to go outside, 'cause the weather is ghastly. I was outside yesterday to get groceries and it's cold, raining and windy. In short, the worst kind of fall weather. I kind of have to go to work tomorrow, which I'm totally not looking forward to. Only 23 more workdays there....

BTW, Alicia Keys's new album "As I Am" is great. It might be my favorite of her yet.
alexdegenhardt: (Wir sind Helden)
I just came back from the "Wir sind Helden" concert and I'm on a concert high. That was an awesome concert and I had a lot of fun. They are hands down my favorite German Band and it seemed like they had fun as well. Judith the lead singer, had throat problems, but she still did a great job. It wasn't very noticable.

On their official site, you can listen to the songs from their 3 albums by clicking on "Sound? So" and then on the song title. Among my many favorites: (Ode) An Die Arbeit, Die Konkurrenz, Der Krieg kommt schneller zurück als du denkst, Wenn es passiert, Echolot, Von hier an Blind, Darf ich das behalten?, Zieh dir was an, Gekommen zu bleiben, Nur ein Wort, Guten Tag, Denkmal, Aurelie, Müssen nur wollen.

I spent all day at work packing boxes. We're moving tomorrow to another building, about 5 minutes from where we are now. It's very chaotic, because no one seems to have a clue about anything. The boxes were delivered today. That shows how much preparation went into the whole thing. The movers will come tomorrow at 8 o'clock. It's really efficient, isn't it? I'll go to my old workplace at 8, we'll oversee the movers and have a long team breakfast together.

Tomorrow I have a doctor's appointment. My constant cold for the last 3 weeks may be Sinusitis according to Wikipedia, so to be on the save side, I thought I better show this to a doctor. I have been taking medication for the last week and it still hasn't gotten better. Let's see what the doctor says tomorrow.

The Grammys: I'm happy that the Dixie Chicks won 5 Grammys, especially Album of the Year, 'cause I really like "Taking The Long Way". I'm also happy that John Mayer won 2 Grammys. I can't believe that "My Humps" is a Grammy winning song now, cause I despise that song with the fire of a thousand suns!

I went to my acupuncturist today and we talked some more. Now, he's gonna order some herbs that should arrive in a week or so. I'll take these for a month on a trial basis. If everything's going okay, I continue taking them until I get allergy symptoms and then we'll start with the acupuncture. I have no idea if that's gonna work, but I thought I'd give it a try.

On the subject of music, my most played song on my iPod is Sektion Kuchikäschtli "I han". If you ever were curious about what Swiss German Hip Hop might sound like, here's your chance. "I han" means I have in English and he's basically just rapping about things in his life, things he likes, is grateful for, hates or thinks are strange. It's catchy, so check it out.

Today I downloaded the leaked new John Mayer Album. I like it so far, I have only had time to listen to it once. I'm looking forward to September 12, when it's released.

I had dinner with Daniel and Martina yesterday. We had a blast. Martina and I tried to get out of Daniel with whom he's spending so much time. He didn't spill the beans, but I bet he will with time. We just have to be persistent. It's mysterious that he doesn't want to tell us. He's very curious and want's to know everything about everybody, but he himself won't spill. That's unfair somehow. We are curious people as well. We want to know...

I got a nice surprise yesterday by mail. The book I ordered from the KV Zürich finally arrived. I ordered it weeks ago and thought I'd have to email them to see if they'd forgotten me. I also got it for free, because I was among the first 10 people who ordered. I mean it's only 20 bucks, but hey, it's still nice.

Time is a funny thing. When you want it to speed up, it doesn't and vice versa. At the moment, it feels like it's just flying by, week after week, month after month. I can't believe that I'm already 26. I don't feel 26, I feel maybe 22. The big 30 is looming in the distance. All this is just a reminder of things I have not yet achieved: figured out what I want to do careerwise, have a serious relationship, travel the world. When I think about all this I'm freaking out. Deep breaths, deep breaths....I'm in a rut and hate it, and yet I'm still afraid of change. How stupid is that?

I'm listening to "The Last Kiss"-Soundtrack. Apparently Zach Braff had a hand in picking out the Soundtrack and I've got to hand it to him. He sure knows how to pick them. It's evocative, you can almost see the movie. Plus I've got to give him props to use Imogen Heap and Rachael Yamagata. I love their albums.

Here's the tracklist:
1. Chocolate - Snow Patrol
2. Star Mile - Joshua Radin
3. Pain Killer - Turin Brakes
4. Warning Sign - Coldplay
5. Ride - Cary Brothers
6. El Salvador - Athlete
7. Hide And Seek - Imogen Heap
8. Reason Why - Rachael Yamagata
9. Hold You In My Arms - Ray LaMontagne
10. Prophecy - Remy Zero
11. Paper Bag - Fiona Apple
12. Today's The Day - Aimee Mann
13. Arms of a Woman - Amos Lee
14. Cigarettes and Chocolate Milk (Reprise) - Rufus Wainwright
15. Paperweight - Joshua Radin and Schuyler Fisk
